Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to oversee high-value CAPEX projects within the electricity sector, typically exceeding £5 million. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead programmes from inception through to successful handover, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, safety standards, and quality requirements.

As a key player in our team, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, leveraging your strong organisational skills, commercial judgment, and safety-first approach to deliver results that meet or exceed expectations. Your leadership will be crucial in driving project success, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and schedule integrity.

The Role

The Project Manager will take ownership of project delivery, including programme planning, resource management, and stakeholder engagement. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to monitor physical and financial progress, ensuring projects stay within scope, budget, and schedule.

Using tools like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, you will develop project plans, track risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Your role involves applying best practices in safety, quality, and environmental standards such as IOSH, CDM, and ISO 9001, especially within LV/HV/EHV substations, ensuring full compliance with HSE and industry regulations.

You will produce clear progress reports and lead ongoing project reviews to facilitate informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities include shaping and managing project programmes, allocating resources effectively, and driving work packages to completion within agreed timelines and budgets. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders, providing clear communication and concise reporting on progress, risks, and issues.

Monitoring both physical and financial metrics, you will proactively identify potential delays or overspends and implement corrective actions. Ensuring compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and quality procedures such as IOSH, CDM, and ISO9001 is integral to your role.

You will also manage project documentation and progress tracking using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, supporting continuous risk mitigation and project performance improvement.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of extensive experience managing large (£5m+) construction or engineering projects within the electricity or infrastructure sectors. You will hold a recognised project management qualification such as APM or be chartered, demonstrating your professional competence.

Experience with IOSH Managing Safely, CDM regulations, and practical knowledge of LV/HV/EHV substations is essential. Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, along with strong commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder communication skills, will enable you to effectively lead complex projects.
