The Role
As a key member of our finance function, reporting to the Head of Finance, you will partner with project managers to deliver comprehensive financial insights that support decision-making. Your responsibilities include reviewing contractual obligations for proper accounting, monitoring project financials to identify overspends and variances, and supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts for both UK and group operations.
You will manage revenue recognition, oversee invoicing processes, and collaborate with project teams to ensure timely cash collection. Additionally, you'll develop financial models to support bids and commercial proposals, helping management assess pricing scenarios and make strategic choices. Your role also involves delivering utilisation reports, supporting financial planning, and performing balance sheet reconciliations — all with a focus on accuracy and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities include partnering with project managers to provide detailed financial analysis and decision support, reviewing contracts to ensure compliance with accounting standards, and maintaining oversight of project budgets, costs, and variances.
You will monitor financial performance against budgets, support month-end closing processes, and manage revenue recognition in line with relevant standards. Ensuring timely invoicing and cash collection is critical, along with building financial models to assess scenarios for bids, pricing, and project profitability.
You will support cost centre management, prepare financial reports such as P&L and utilisation metrics, and perform balance sheet reconciliations. Your proactive approach will help identify cost-saving opportunities, improve financial processes, and strengthen the financial discipline across the business.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in a finance or business partnering role, ideally within project-based environments. A relevant financial qualification, such as CIMA or ACCA, is essential. You should have familiarity with UK and international (IFRS) accounting standards and solid experience working with project financials, including revenue recognition and cost control.
Strong analytical skills, financial modelling expertise, and proficiency in Excel and ERP systems are key to success. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills are vital, as you will interact with various internal teams and external clients. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of strategic thinking to support operational and financial decision-making effectively.
