Overview

The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments across multiple customer accounts. This role involves managing end‑to‑end SAP Basis operations—including system health checks, batch jobs, upgrades, patching, and incident resolution—while also overseeing SAP Security activities such as role creation, authorization management, and user access provisioning.

The consultant plays a key role in collaborating with onshore teams, technology vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable SAP application support and continuous service improvements. Leadership, proactive problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to manage a team are essential aspects of this role. The consultant also contributes to business development initiatives through impact assessments, effort estimation, and technical planning.

The Role

The SAP Basis Consultant is accountable for managing the technical foundation of SAP systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and overall system health. The role requires hands-on expertise in Basis administration, SAP security, SAP installations, database management, and OS-level troubleshooting across UNIX and Windows environments. The consultant will manage a team of SAP Basis engineers, drive incident/problem management, support change initiatives, and provide leadership during major incidents and cutover events. This position also engages with business stakeholders to understand requirements, deliver technical solutions, and maintain strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Regular interaction and effective collaboration with onshore customer calls and service review meetings

Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of the network as per agreed service terms and conditions.

Team Management.

Overall responsible for managing the basis function/health checks/Batch jobs/Incidents/Service requests/Patching and upgrades/Roles creations etc for the multiple account.

Responsible for managing SAP security activities New Role creation/Existing Role changes, Role movements, Identifying missing authorization objects and new user access request/modifications.

Incidents analysis, problem management and resolution within SLA

Propose and participate in initiatives for overall performance estate based on vendor and industry best practices management of the

Work closely with technology vendors and service partners responsible for service desk, desktop support.

Should have experience in application support environment (Delivering Incidents/Service Request/Change Request/Impact Assessment)

Should have good analytical and problem-solving skills in both Support and Projects.

Liaise with business users (field users / back office) to understand the requirements and deliver to the requirement by self-developing, coordinating with the other technical team SAP Basis Consultant

• Delivering Impact assessment/solutions for change requests raised by business users.

• Manage, coordinate and report application major incidents (P1 & P2)

• Preparation of cutover plan/RFC for implementation.

• Build end to end documentation and catalogue for supported applications and known errors.

• Hand out and give Knowledge Transfer sessions to the team.

• Business Engagement Engaging with business proactive to build trust and relationship for better stakeholder management.

• Demonstrate Proactive Approach rather than fix on fail

• Support with Business Development activities like Impact Assessment, PoC, Effort Estimation, Project Planning and Approach Definition.

Skills & Experience

Essential Experience

Over-all experience with 4+ years in SAP BASIS.

Experience in both ECC & S/4 HANA.

SAP experience includes SAP Installations & Maintenance

Experience with SAP Database like Oracle, Microsoft etc.

Expertise in UNIX, Windows based OS

Should be able to manage the team of 5 10

Well versed with Project Management

Should be able to assist the customers with business case for the development of the chosen option.

Should have good communication skills

Proactive in identifying issues and coming out with solution

Should have worked in Support projects
