Overview
We are seeking an experienced GIS Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise GIS architectures tailored for utility clients. In this critical role, you will utilise your expertise in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Utility Network to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions for complex utility network migrations.
Your work will involve engaging directly with clients and stakeholders through workshops and design sessions, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and technical standards.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence digital transformation initiatives within the utility sector, develop industry-leading accelerators, and contribute to cutting-edge projects such as digital twins.
The Role
As a GIS Solution Architect, you will oversee the deployment of ESRI desktop, web, and mobile solutions, ensuring their seamless integration with enterprise systems such as OMS, WMS, SCADA, SAP, and Maximo.
Your responsibilities include designing scalable GIS architectures, managing complex data migrations from legacy systems to ESRI models, and maintaining data quality and system performance.
You will support various deployment strategies—cloud, hybrid, or on-premise—while applying DevOps practices to improve automation and governance. Leading industry workshops and developing proposals for new projects, you will stay updated on ESRI product innovations and leverage industry trends to deliver innovative solutions supporting digital twin initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities encompass designing enterprise GIS architectures with ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, and Utility Network; leading complex data migration projects that ensure model consistency and performance; and conducting workshops and stakeholder sessions to communicate strategies effectively.
You will guide the deployment of ESRI applications across desktop, web, and mobile platforms, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems like asset management, outage, customer service, and other utilities. Supporting cloud and hybrid deployment models, including CI/CD automation, is essential.
You will also develop detailed technical documentation, contribute to industry thought leadership, and continuously innovate using the latest ESRI updates and trends. Lead industry workshops, craft proposals for new opportunities, and support governance and maintenance frameworks to ensure long-term success.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will bring over five years of experience in GIS solution architecture, with at least two years focused on Utility Network projects within the utility sector (water, gas, or electric).
You should possess deep expertise in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Utility Network data models, along with strong skills in data modelling, ETL tools like FME and Python, and version control workflows. Experience working with utility system integrations—asset management, outage management, and customer service systems—is essential, particularly within consultancy or operational environments.
Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, or hybrid delivery methodologies, combined with exceptional problem-solving and communication abilities, will enable you to translate complex business needs into scalable solutions, manage stakeholder expectations, and lead innovative projects effectively. A results-driven, disciplined approach will be vital for success in this role
