As an O&M Electrician you will be responsible for delivering Electrical Operations & Maintenance
Services for your allocated client sites, as part of the nxzen Energy Assets Development (EAD)
Division. This role primarily focuses on providing Operations & Maintenance services to Clements
Gap BESS and Mannum Solar Farm 2 sites and may also require travel to support commissioning and
O&M activities at other renewable energy sites across Australia as new project opportunities arise.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
• Conducting operations and maintenance activities to meet clients KPIs and contractual
obligations.
• Conducting High Voltage Switching Operator Activities in accordance with nxzen’s HV
procedures
• Promptly responding to and investigating Alarms and incidents to maintain site safety,
reliability and compliance with Generator Performance Standards (GPS).
• Deploying to sites on an on-call basis to support unplanned and/or emergency maintenance
activities.
• Supporting basic SCADA monitoring, alarm investigation, and operational troubleshooting
activities for solar and BESS assets.
• Acting as Site Supervisor for the allocated site during periods of leave.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records within the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance
Management System), including preventive and corrective maintenance activities, work
order creation and close-out, and reporting.
Operations & Maintenance Electrician
• Supporting a strong focus on preventive and predictive maintenance practices to maximise
plant reliability, performance, and long-term asset value.
• Ensure the timely repair and maintenance of plant equipment and resolving operational
issues as they arise.
• Comply with and supervise Site Safety processes and procedures, with the support of nxzen
Operations & Safety Management team members.
• Liaising with equipment suppliers regarding procurement activities, equipment assessments,
replacement requirements, and developing procurement schedules, with engineering
support where required.
• Implementing required site-based operational controls as may be required to ensure
compliance with the GPS (e.g. addressing non-conformances to trading signals, manually
controlling site dispatch or charging).
• Working collaboratively with the O&M Manager and O&M Site Supervisors to establish and
continuously improve the operations and maintenance processes and procedures.
• Supporting client and internal reporting requirements relating to O&M service delivery.
• Collaborating with nxzen’s wider Operations & Maintenance team, Contracts Manager,
Safety Manager, Project Engineering Team, Finance Team and other related staff involved
directly or indirectly in delivering the service.
• Supporting client and site stakeholder management in coordination with your direct
manager.
• Identifying potential issues proactively and implementing preventive measures to minimise
operational risks and delays.
• Providing additional support to the Energy Assets Development (EAD) Division as required
from time to time.
• Supporting commissioning and energisation activities for solar and BESS projects, working
closely with the Commissioning Manager and/or EPC Project Manager.
• Coordinating with OEMs, contractors, and service providers during maintenance and
commissioning activities.
Essential Knowledge
• Qualifications as an Electrician, with High Voltage Switching Operator training.
• Experience in planning and performing High Voltage Switching activities.
• Proven capability and experience in managing all aspects of Operations & Maintenance of
utility scale power assets.
• Experience in viewing, extracting and interpreting data in SCADA systems.
• Experience in SCADA monitoring, alarm investigation, and operational troubleshooting
activities.
• Proven ability in managing subcontractors in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Proven experience in health, safety and environmental management as it relates to all
aspects of operations and service delivery.
Operations & Maintenance Electrician
• Ability to understand the general engineering principles relevant to renewable energy assets
and associated systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, contractors, suppliers, customers,
and project stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience within the renewable energy industry, including solar farms and
BESS.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Project delivery experience within industrial, infrastructure, or renewable energy
environments.
• Experience in electrical power systems, including grid-connected renewable energy assets.
• Proven expertise and experience in commissioning of renewable energy assets including
solar farms and/or BESS projects.
• Ability to support planning, coordination, scheduling, and documentation activities
associated with operations, maintenance, and commissioning works.
• Ability to understand the engineering principles relevant to project design, construction,
operations, and commissioning activities.
Desirable Experience & Attributes
• Ideally experienced working on utility-scale renewable energy assets, including BESS and
solar farms (Site Specific training will be provided in Operating the assets).
• Exposure to commissioning or energisation activities for renewable energy projects.
• Familiarity with CMMS and renewable energy SCADA systems.
Qualifications / Professional Certifications required
Essential:
• Electrical Licence, authorising work as an Electrician in South Australia
• Current High Voltage Switching Qualifications
