We are looking for an experienced Platform Lead – Database Technology to lead and manage enterprise database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. This role will act as the technical authority for database technologies, with strong hands-on experience in MS SQL Server, Oracle Database, Cosmos DB, and PostgreSQL, and solid expertise in managing cloud-based database services.
The role requires strong fundamentals in database administration, performance tuning, availability, and security, with additional advantage for database scripting, automation, and monitoring, including exposure to Azure Databricks and open-source tooling.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities – Database Platforms (Core Role)
· Lead the design, deployment, and management of enterprise database platforms, including:
o Microsoft SQL Server
o Oracle Database
o Azure Cosmos DB
o PostgreSQL
· Act as the database subject-matter expert and escalation lead for complex database issues
· Own database platform architecture, standards, and best practices
· Manage database operations across on-premises, Azure, and AWS environments
· Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and data security
· Drive standardisation and modernisation of database platforms

Database Administration & Operations
· Perform and govern:
o Database installation, upgrades, and patching
o Backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
o Performance tuning and capacity planning
· Monitor database health, performance, and availability
· Ensure compliance with security, audit, and governance requirements
· Manage database lifecycle activities, including decommissioning and migrations
· Serve as the final escalation point for critical database incidents

Cloud-Based Database Management (Key Focus)
· Manage and support cloud-native and cloud-hosted databases, including:
o Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL (Azure/AWS managed services)
o Oracle and SQL Server on Azure/AWS infrastructure
· Lead and support database migrations to cloud platforms
· Ensure cloud database solutions align with cost, security, and resilience standards
· Collaborate with application, cloud, and security teams on cloud database designs

Database Scripting, Automation & Monitoring (Added Advantage)
· Develop and maintain database scripts for administration and automation
· Exposure to Azure Databricks for:
o Database scripting

· Create and enhance automation and monitoring solutions, preferably using:
o Open-source monitoring tools
o Scripts and workflow-based automation

Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
· 8-10 years of overall IT experience with strong focus on database technologies
· Hands-on experience with:
o MS SQL Server
o Oracle Database
o Cosmos DB
o PostgreSQL
· Strong knowledge of:
o Database administration and operations
o Performance tuning and troubleshooting
o Backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions
· Proven experience managing cloud-based databases (key requirement)
· Ability to operate across on-prem and cloud environments
